Joseph is a third year Electrical and Computer Engineering graduate student. He completed his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and B.S. in Physics at Lamar University. His research interests include studying localized plasmon resonances occurring in metallic nanoparticles for both for single particles and particle ensembles, focusing on the generation of confined light fields enabling enhancement of Raman-scattering and nonlinear processes, exploring interactions between plasmonic structures and optically active media, quantitative electromagnetic simulations of metallic nanoparticles of various dimensions tilizing COMSOL and xFDTD, conducting basic, applied, and translational research at the interface of photonics, medicine, and nanotechnology towards the development of cost-effective optically-based strategies for screening, diagnosis, monitoring, and treating of cancer.
